Translatium ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS translation application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 License Information
When you activate Translatium, we collect your license key to verify your subscription status, track the number of activated devices, and provide license management features.
2.2 Usage Data
We track token usage and translation requests to enforce usage limits for Translatium AI engine (1,000 tokens/day, 30,000 tokens/month). This data is anonymized and used only for quota management.
2.3 Translation Content
Text you translate is sent to our servers (for Translatium Engine) or directly to OpenAI (if using Translatium AI or OpenAI Integration). We do not store your translation content after processing.

- To verify and manage your license subscription

4. Data Storage and Security
License and usage data is stored securely on Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit. Your OpenAI API key (if provided) is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including SSL/TLS encryption, secure authentication, and regular security audits.
5. Accessibility Permissions
Translatium requires macOS Accessibility permissions to detect text selection across applications. This permission is used solely to provide the selection-based translation feature. We do not log, store, or transmit any text you select beyond the specific text you choose to translate.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: For license management and real-time updates
- Sparkle: For automatic app updates
OpenAI Integration (and Translatium AI)
Uses OpenAI's GPT-4.1-mini model for AI-powered translations. When using these engines, your translation content is sent to OpenAI's servers for processing and is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Data We Do NOT Store
- API Keys: Your OpenAI API key (when using OpenAI engine) is stored locally on your device only. We never transmit or store your API key on our servers.
- Translation Content: We do not store any text you translate on our servers. All translation content is processed in real-time and discarded immediately after delivery.
7. Your Rights
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Deactivate your license and remove device associations
- Export your usage data
8. Data Retention
We retain license and usage data for the duration of your subscription plus 30 days after expiration. Translation content is processed in real-time and not stored. You can request data deletion at any time by contacting support.
9. Children's Privacy
Translatium is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
